I don’t call what I do works art but rather, works of heart. 

For me, documenting a persons soul – who they are and who they love – is being invited into a sacred journey. It is a gift to bear witness to such a fragile, and vulnerable part of the lives of those I document. It makes me emotional to consider the impacts of the art I create for them and generations to come. To call it anything less than works of heart would downplay its monumental significance. 

From the way a new mother marvels at her creation or how father and daughter come together supernaturally, to the intimate embrace of a couple and their soft kiss…all the treasures of love we never want to forget, laid out in front of my lens like pieces of a living, breathing heart.

When you allow your life to unfold in front of me, I document it with a lens of desperation. You see, I understand the gravity of what I do. You put your heart into my hands and without words, I know what you will need… 

A capsule of memories where nostalgia meets the strange sense of homesickness you feel, a safe place to revisit when your reflection looks different and your arms are no longer the home of your babies, unarchived memories where you can experience relief that it wasn’t just a dream, where you can grieve the days that have gone by all while being transported back in time.

Yes, I feel this with desperation.
